Formula SAE Drivetrain Performance Upgrades for Endurance
Problem statement
Since 2017, Wisconsin Racing has utilized a 300V architecture in both 2WD and 4WD configurations. Over the past years, the team has run predominantly 2WD vehicles due to reliability issues with various electrical components on the vehicle, which has hindered overall vehicle performance. This year, the team will be pivoting to a 600V 4WD system to improve vehicle performance through enhanced efficiency and lap time. The scope of this project involves 1) overall vehicle modeling/simulation for a 600V 4WD system, 2) cooling system characterization and design, and 3) mechanical design, analysis, and packaging of the outboard assembly (uprights, wheels, brakes, and motors)
