Recycling of Powder Feedstock for Additive Manufacturing: Powder Separation Device
Problem statement
Develop a method and prototype a device into which a mixture of metal powders is fed and the output is two streams, one of each constituent powder (e.g., copper, stainless steel). Various methods of separating powder should be explored and at least one chosen based on consultation with the client to test. Note that the client has different mixtures of used metal powders. Magnetic separation may work better for one mixture and gravity separation for another. Safe handling of metal powder will be taught and supervised by the client.
