Automated Beverage Container Opener to aid the Vending Process
Problem statement
Picture yourself at your favorite venue making your way to get a drink, when suddenly, you encounter a terribly long line. At best, a perfect pour takes around 7 seconds but inexperienced staff can make this even longer. If only you could avoid the line and stop at a vending machine! A vending machine with a similar purchase time could speed up the process with a quicker service time and reduce staffing costs. However, most venues won’t sell sealed cans since they pose a hazard if thrown [1]. We intend to provide Molson Coors with an automated method of opening their products within a vending machine so they can market adult beverage machines to event venues. Equipped with the opener, these machines will speed up sales, ensure consumer safety, and limit liability to both the venue and Molson Coors. In turn, consumer satisfaction will improve, venues will generate more revenue, and Molson Coors will gain further sales and exposure.
