Problem statement
A patient with any form of Muscular Dystrophy (ie: Spinal Muscular Atrophy) has difficulty with occupational activities because of lack of motion in the upper extremities. Some example activities are brushing teeth, combing hair, washing face, stretching in the morning (to get circulation to the arms), raising a hand while in a college class to ask or answer a question, grabbing an item off a shelf at the store, paying for items at a store, etc.. With lack of movement of these muscle groups, the motor neurons of these muscle groups eventually die and cause the muscles to eventually atrophy completely.
