Problem statement

To compete successfully in the SAE AutoDrive Challenge II, the Wisconsin Autonomous student organization must complete a variety of challenges between Fall 2021 and Summer 2022. The challenges incorporate mechanical and software based design elements. In year one, a tool cart must be fitted with computational hardware, a variety of sensors and power units in an attempt to create a portable vehicle analog. In preparation for when the team receives a Chevy Bolt EUV in Fall 2022, intelligent software components must also be designed to identify various road elements such as street signs, pedestrians, etc.. The cart is currently untouched and mounting solutions will require careful planning to ensure components are not damaged during transportation. As part of the first year competition, project management is strongly encouraged and we will aid the team in ensuring deadlines are met. The expertise we will provide to Wisconsin Autonomous will be invaluable to the success of the team. Successfully completing this challenge will help advance the autonomous vehicle industry and promote safer transportation in years to come.
