Integrated Welding Torch Connection
Problem statement
Tungsten inert gas or TIG welders are an invaluable resource in American manufacturing. Reducing confusing aspects of the trade improves efficiency and safety. Currently, there are many different types of torches, power supplies, and cables with varying connections that can make welder setup confusing and frustrating [1]. Dual purpose connectors exist for simultaneous electrical and gas connections, but additional connections are still necessary for wire feed or liquid applications [2]. A universal connector can eliminate confusion, streamline workflow, and save money for manufacturing firms. Welders will be able to ensure proper fit and function with a single connector rather than selecting from dozens of cables and torches to find a compatible pairing. This simplicity saves money for firms, such as our client Miller Electric, by reducing parts needed to be purchased and increases productivity by making setup efficient and offering flexibility for welders. A solution will serve as beneficial for both the welding industry directly, as well as every consumer down the line.
