MIRAJ

The Mirror-driven Interplanetary Reactor for Advanced Jovian Transfer (M.I.R.A.J.) is a conceptual nuclear-electric deep-space transport platform to enable rapid, flexible, and repeatable missions across the outer solar system. The architecture integrates a high-power helicon-magnetic mirror fusion propulsion engine with an onboard molten salt fission reactor Auxiliary Power Unit. By utilizing a Deuterium–Helium-3 () fuel cycle and continuous-thrust plasma acceleration, M.I.R.A.J. achieves specific impulses exceeding 2,000–10,000 seconds, drastically reducing Earth–Europa transit times to under one year compared to traditional multi-year chemical trajectories. The modular spacecraft features a central structural spine with deployable radiator arrays to handle gigawatt-scale thermal loads and standardized docking interfaces, positioning M.I.R.A.J. as a reusable deep-space tug for future scientific and commercial logistics beyond the asteroid belt.
