Project SPINS

Project S.P.I.N.S. (Suborbital Projectile INsertion System) explores an innovative approach to transporting cargo from the lunar surface to orbit using a reusable spin-launch system instead of traditional chemical rockets. Designed to support future Artemis-era lunar infrastructure, the concept uses a ground-based centrifugal launcher powered by electrical energy to accelerate robust payloads such as helium-3, water, or other in-situ resources to orbital velocities with minimal onboard propellant. By leveraging the Moon’s low gravity and vacuum environment, the project aims to reduce launch costs, increase launch cadence, and enable sustainable lunar logistics for long-term exploration, resource utilization, and commercial development.
