Problem statement
Imagine coming home to a boiling hot apartment after a long day of work. For many, it is not financially feasible for some to continuously run their HVAC systems while they are gone. Throughout history, window shades have been used to not only provide privacy but to control heat flow in and out of living spaces. Shades help save money by reducing sunlight and heat loss. However, traditional shades are not adjustable while people are at work, especially for locations with irregular daylight hours. An example of a solution available on the market is Eve Blinds, which can open and close throughout the day with an active control system [1]. However, they can cost upwards of $1000 per device, are a hassle to install, and inaccessible to lower income households. Our solution will integrate automatic functionality, removing the need for outside effort once they are installed. We aim to offer our clients an opportunity to increase their comfort in their own home while saving their hard earned income. Ultimately, our goal is to increase the quality of life for something many people take for granted. [1] https://www.evehome.com/en-us/eve-blinds-collection
