King Fisher

kingfisher spring26ae

The KingFisher is an autonomous, trans-medium uncrewed vehicle designed to revolutionize operations and maintenance for the offshore wind industry. This hybrid platform executes both aerial and subsea structural surveys in a single sortie. The vehicle utilizes an aerodynamically efficient fixed-wing architecture with an 8-foot wingspan to handle an 80-mile round-trip transit from shore. Constructed from a carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer airframe with passively flooding wings, it achieves near-neutral buoyancy to dive up to 200 feet deep. Driven by an onboard 4K camera and dual-frequency multibeam sonar payload, the KingFisher successfully eliminates the costly logistical overhead of disjointed support vessels, commercial dive teams, and separate drone deployments.
